What we collect
- Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, approximate location (country and city), device type, browser and operating system.
- Device identifier: a browser fingerprint computed from your browser and device characteristics, used to count unique visitors, plus a device signature (screen size, platform, graphics card model, CPU cores, timezone) used to group browsers on the same device. Neither can be turned back into your identity.
- IP address and connection: your IP address and connection details (network operator, VPN, proxy or datacenter detection, approximate location), kept to prevent abuse of the site, such as comment spam and fake traffic.
- Information you give us: your email if you subscribe to the newsletter, and your name, email and comment text if you leave a comment.
We do not ask for health information, and we do not build health profiles of readers.
How we use it
To understand which articles are useful, to keep the site secure, to send the newsletter you asked for and to display the comments you post. We never sell personal data.
Analytics and advertising
We use our own first-party analytics and Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. Pages may also show ads served by Google, which can use cookies to show and measure ads. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, Google's analytics and advertising cookies are set only after you choose “Accept all”; elsewhere you can turn them off at any time with “Essential only” in the cookie settings. See the cookie policy and Google's policy on how it uses data from sites that use its services.
Affiliate links
If you click an affiliate link, the retailer or its network may set cookies to attribute a purchase. Their privacy policies apply.
Retention
Analytics events, visit records and click records are deleted automatically after 13 months. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Comments are kept until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in every email. To access, correct or delete your data, email contact@wellmarrow.com.
